Cracked the Code?
A little DD on FRSX and why it *could* be a great play ** remember this is purely speculation and by no means financial advice**
Introduction:
Player 1: FRSX
Foresight (FRSX) was in hot discussion back June when they filed a patent for using thermal cameras and artificial intelligence to help detect Covid-19. FRSX in know for their automotive vision technology using visible-light and thermal cameras via their partnership with FLIR inc (FLIR) But as I dug into it I may have uncovered the next FRSX connection.
Player 2: Huawei
Huawei is one of the largest and most famous/infamous companies in the entire world. They are one the original reasons why Chinese and U.S. trade tensions ran so high. Because they sparked controversy of stealing/copying data from the U.S.
They are a massive tech conglomerate with intense market share (more than Apple in China). Many of you have probably used one of their products.
Exhibit A: What got me intrigued with FRSX was this Press Release From Yesterday - Introductory Order from “multi-billion dollar Chinese Tech Company”
So the hunt was on to find this Billion dollar Chinese Tech company and I narrowed my list down to 3.
Tencent
Alibaba
Huawei
Suspect # 1 Tencent:
Tencent, NIO, and Mobileye. NIO and Tencent have partnered with Mobileye as their camera technology instead of FRSX, therefore eliminating Tencent as the "Multi-billion dollar Chinese Tech company".
Tencent currently owns over 2.25 $Billion in NIO. The two giants (Huawei and Tencent) have worked together before on different tech projects, but this one is now a competition.
Tencent Ruled Out
Exhibit B: FRSX Germany Tier 1 Auto Supplier - FRSX products were showcased and successfully demoed in Germany. They received an introductory order from a Tier 1 German auto supplier involved in the $1 Billion USD Autonomous Vehicle/Truck market.
This supplier is Veoneer, who supplies AV components for Volkswagen/Audi and a handful of other companies within Huawei’s AV plan. (see Exhibit C).
Suspect #2 Alibaba
Baba has been involved with the NEV market in China as of late, however after doing research Baba’s number one EV holding Xpeng doesn’t seem to be fit for the profile listed in the Press Release nor does it have the connections listed to a German auto Supplier nor does it have connections with Veoneer.
No BABA
Suspect #3 Huawei
Exhibit C:. Huawei - Autonomous Driving Plans for Germany and China (2020-2022). - Huawei to provide autonomous driving power to an array of leading German and Chinese Car manufacturers for 2020-2022.
Exhibit D: FRSX Enters Partnership with FLIR to develop and distribute FRSX's Quad-sight Camera
This is a marketing deal/partnership from FLIR to market the same camera that was ordered from supposed Huawei. This benefits FRSX the most as FLIR’s veteran status in the trading world helps expose the quad-sight camera in a stronger audience.
FLIR has customers of Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. and works in Autonomous Vehicles.
Who is FLIR partnered with? Veoneer the tier 1 automotive supplier company mentioned previously.
Bonus findings. Fisker soon to IPO, autonomous vehicle project using the same LIDAR "top level" autopilot system.
Henrik Fisker was heavily involved with Tesla vehicles and also been involved with the design and productions of other cars such as the BMW z8. They now have conflict with Tesla . Tesla boosts a 8 camera system and it is being developed in house. Fisker’s models note a 4 camera system which leads me to the connection of FRSX. Also, note this possible partnership with VW.
Note* I know Fisker has dealt with Quanergy Systems but haven’t found any evidence to support they are still working together post 2018 data.
Also their autopilot system is called "Foresight"
VERDICT: In my humble opinion Huawei has to be the company in FRSX’s PR.
After using the parameters provided by FRSX, the list was narrowed down to a handful of companies (all strong contenders due to the fact that they had to be a multi-billion dollar tech company to begin with.) The search for elevating factors such as citations of German/Chinese/Huawei/FRSX AV ventures helped us paint a road map of the connections between companies in the AV sector. See flowchart for how I mapped it
Not even going to ask you how long that took but thanks for sharing. Very informative
